PS2 Memory Cards - sh.itjust.works

Hello everyone! I was wondering what advice people have in acquiring PS2 memory cards. I recently acquired a PS2 slim for my birthday, and frankly my only experience with memory card based consoles is a backwards compatible Wii (where I have a memory card + virtual memory cards on the SD / backups of the memory card) What is the safest route (in terms of longevity / corruption) to go (with or without homebrew). Thank you for your feedback, looking forward to trying some classics I missed out when I was younger :)

if you are looking at previously owned stuff… Don’t touch any of the third party memory cards. Look for official Sony 8MB MagicGate cards.

If you’re looking for modern solutions, go with a MemCard PRO which should allow you to save your games to SD cards. Then you can backup the SD card wherever you want.

The wait is finally over! The MemCardPRO2 is here! The brand new MemCard PRO2 for the original PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 1 consoles is the last Memory Card you will ever need! No more piles of memory cards, no more guessing where your precious save is, and no more corrupt saves! The MemCard PRO2 solves the problem of storing your game's saves forever!

Do you have experience with the MemCard PRO? Would you say it’s a full replacement for older memory cards, or should it be used in tandem with an original memory card in slot two.
