i want to write a guide for my friends who have realised they want to try fediverse. i would install a gts instance and a phanpy (both avail. in yunohost) and then start the guide with "hello. i'm really sorry this has to be more complicated from instagram, but blame those who fucked up the web, increasingly since 2004, but now we can unfuck it together. but we need some learning time. don't worry, everything will be ok."

oh, maybe i need stickers with QR code (link to unfuckthe.website and text "scan this to unfuck the web"

Unfuck The Web Now!

@prinlu yes! 😭 have been wanting to do this for a while and it has constantly been on my mind lately. Just need to friggin do it!! 💪💪 this is the way
@adelinawrites navijam glasno! - nežen opomnik: ni treba vse s seznama naresti, kar gre gre, s potrpežljivosjo. z googla se je težko spravit, to so dolgi in naporni procesi. :-)
@prinlu My actual to do list :) I try to teach it to my students.

@prinlu Yes! Have been dreaming up similar ideas: was thinking along the lines of Resist Enshittification. Unfuck The Web will do nicely. Am in the process of deleting all of my corporate media accounts, and posts like these make me feel less like I'm a member of the tinfoil hat brigade.

Best wishes.

@cephasteom thank you. wish you luck and a lot of patience with the move away from Big Tech! 💛
@prinlu god I wish people would do this. But folks are just totally unwilling to give up their audience even if it means keeping toxic tech afloat ☹️
@andy_warb the switching costs are too high for them. giving up one's audience is very hard. it's like leaving the community where you belong. it's ok if they don't. it should be their decision, and it should come from profound realisation that no one can force them into. in the meantime we can offer all the information they need when they need it.
@prinlu Great but not managable for everyone. With a fulltime Job and 3 Kids the time is Limited. But digital participation is Human right imho. We need more Grass Root teachings round the next corner & good online tutorials…

@anja @prinlu

I think we should have some of these things in school, youth clubs, etc.

Learn kids how to make html-sites instead of editors.

We grown ups need to unlearn.

Learning and autonomy shoul be part of the process instead of telling people you can buy your way to the top.

This includes music making.

People get bombarded with adds for plugins, sample packs and even midi chord packs instead of wanting to learn.

We need personal DIY instead of corporate flashiness more than ever!

@lislegaard @prinlu yeah more digital education would be great! And: handle very careful with (big) tech is very important, too. BUT: I wouldn't condemn commercial apps in general. There is so much great software out there! I have deep respect for the inventors. And I don't hesitate to pay for their good work. If a company acts awfull like for eg Native Instruments with the Absynth, I avoid spending my money for their products. Let's prefer concious decisions over moral conflicts. 🙃

@anja @prinlu

I also agree with this (not enough space to include in my original reply).

It is important not to scare people away from this learning!

@lislegaard @prinlu yesss that's the main problem of the most teaching: don't scare the kids & people away. It has to be a joy and frequently playfull. 🤩 I love my 2015 Mac BookPro running on Linux Mint Debian Edition. It's not perfect but great. But I can't switch off nearly 30 years of sound- and videowork I still can only maintain with an Apple MacBook. So I am currently a dual user and I am fine with that. 😊 But: FOSS development needs a big speed up, of course! 🙌
