I don't need a lot of extras in a job to be motivated.

Overall if the work itself is enjoyable, I have a decent amount of ownership, the process is lean and tight and as direct as possible, the product and the dev team are a cohesive unit speaking the same (domain) language - I'm good. You can keep all your extra amenities like sports club memberschips, team events, hackathons etc - make the work/job fun and productive first - then do a party or something to celebrate - not to motivate #random

Comparing this with the reality, these are substantial demands. Almost delusional. 😅

@hukl 10 years ago when I was looking for a job, many hip companies were bragging about free coffee and fruit baskets and what not. But they lacked the important parts.

When I joined the company I chose, it turned out they even had all the extras but they didn’t put it in the job offer.

Nowadays I would be very suspicious when a company puts too much effort in describing all the extras…
