Textpattern 4.9.0 beta.2 released

@textpattern
I'm holding off committing my next project to TextPattern, only because the web site makes it appear abandoned.
I only say that because so many of the author's of the sites in the Showcase section don't use TextPattern any more.
Is there any chance the abandoned sites could be removed?
@textpattern
I read the blog pages and realised 4.9.0 was near release, and understand that will have been taking all the team's energies recently.
I was just concerned that anyone exploring TextPattern for the first time could easily be put off exploring further, as I found that a good proportion of the Showcase sites I visited were either off line or no longer used the TextPattern platform.
TextPattern is top of my list of CMS for a multi-contributor site. Unfortunately, the site I was expecting to develop is now likely to be built by someone else. Their chief objection to TextPattern is the lack of a WYSIWYG editor as most of the contributors would struggle with BB Code, MarkDown or anything similar.
(I like 'd prefer to encourage user training in the use of such tools, as I'm yet to find a web based WYSIWYG editor tool that doesn't produce inline styling and other theme wrecking unreadable code, but accept these mainly elderly folk know little more than MS Word.)
@gregc Good points, well made.
The showcase sites are tracked in an issue (https://github.com/textpattern/textpattern-com-website/issues/466), & ideally we need a few replacements to 'swap in'.
The WYSIWYG angle is one that comes around from time to time; the point about them being somewhat opinionated about the code they chuck in is valid…and that is a factor in us not recommending one. We don't have the resources at present to bake our own native editor, but there are plugins that allow someone to to be integrated with minimal faff.
