So I've reached the final confrontation area with Irenicus, the Big Bad(tm).

And what always happens to me when I know the end game approaches has happened: I lose all interest in the game.

I don't play games to "beat" them or to fight bosses - I play for the experience of exploring them. Once I know that's almost done, I feel no further incentive to continue.

I've never understood what players get from beating a game. Well done you've triumphed over a video game. Feels so empty to me.

That's probably an unpopular opinion. I once told a colleague of mine that I hadn't actually ever bothered to fight the end boss in several games I'd otherwise completed, and he told me that he wouldn't be able to sleep at night now I'd told him that 😂

(He was kidding... but there was real pain on his face)

@retrotechtive When I finished the Frozen Wilds expansion to Horizon: Zero Dawn and had finished Every Single Thing to do there I felt sad that it was over. It was a really cool place (no pun intended).
