This perspective matches my lifetime of experience, but it also seems missing from the public discourse. The red vs blue false dichotomy doesn't accept nor allow this level of clarity. Love or hate government services, but don't dare say they're a good idea but not working well, both red and blue disagree with that reality.

Which is precisely why so many can't understand how we got here, and so many others seem to be cheering on the fires of our democracy.
