Yes the dismantling of USAID is about destroying any soft power the US has in the world. And yes it plays to the interests of Putin and Xi, and it feeds Musk's grandiosity and Trump's need for cruelty

But it's also a humiliation that's practically custom-designed for Rubio. It's the equivalent of Trump telling Rubio (once USAID's biggest champion) to shoot the family dog and thank him for the opportunity

The debasement is just beginning and his entire cabinet will have a turn in the barrel

but I just don't want America to have any such power in the world. we will inevitably abuse it. I'd rather we give the money and any other assistance to the UN and let them allocate it.

@kims 'Little Marco' is an empty shirt and deserves to have Trump make him lie down and let Trump kick him in the teeth at every cabinet meeting, which he would submit to without complaint. Rubio has no moral standards or ideas, his whole raison d'etre is to somehow become President because then everyone will have to respect him no matter what he did to debase himself to accomplish it.

I live in the Congressional District where the new Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-Deremer was Representative. I had a positive impression of her based on her newsletters and email responses to my concerns. She genuinely seemed be aligned as much as possible these days with a classic Hatfield wing of the Republican Party. I have been wondering what the administration has in store for her. A McDonalds meal for make-america-healthy again Kennedy. Shredding America's soft power for Rubio.
