Italy: the fastest country in the world?
Nuclear energy law to be approved by end-2025. Legislative decrees regulating the entire nuclear energy cycle drafted and enacted by end-2026. And just 4 years later, in 2030: new nuclear power plants in operation!

Wow, but.. how?
“We are looking at fusion and new-generation fission with completely different tools compared to large-scale nuclear plants of the past.”, said Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin.

Says @euractiv.com: Italy is on track to reintroduce nuclear energy by 2030.
😀

@Sustainable2050 it would be funny if it weren't one of the most effective policies to slow down renewables

@henrihorn Thanks to our credulous press and politicians. Bizarre that @euractiv doesn't even comment on the feasilbity. It has an Energy & Environment desk.

@Sustainable2050 @euractiv
Credulous is a well documented feature in Finnish media, too. The expected completion date (vertical axis in graph below) of the #Olkiluoto3 nuclear project was pushed forward almost semiannually, a dozen times during years of construction 2006-2022 (horizontal axis) and mainstream media would quote the new date as if it were a certainty.

Not long ago it was enough to multiply projected nuclear construction time by π but in the Italian case it might be more like π².
