OSI has successfully navigated the treacherous waters of the Open Source AI definition, built a professional staff, raised its profile and credibility, had a real impact on policy makers, extended its reach into academia, and built bridges to parts of the world that are often forgotten. To accomplish this, it has gone to great lengths to become a professionally run organization with a proper budget.
