@QasimRashid You have some points, but it's worth noting (and knowing) that the Taliban formed from the mujahideen who had had promises from the Carter administration for infrastructure improvements (hospitals, roadways, schools, etc.) but were abandoned after they had served their purpose in drawing the Soviet Union into Afghanistan. Zbigniew Brzezinski thought the subsequent collapse of the Russian Empire more important than 'some stirred-up Moslems'.
