I think that Democrats should boycott the State of the Union, which is pointless. Instead, of having a Democrat provide the rebuttal, they should bring in recently fired federal workers to describe the important work they used to do.

You would want people who were probationary employees because they were recently fired, someone who worked in bird flu, an air traffic controller, a park ranger, a VA doctor. And it shouldn't have an air of recrimination. Just calmly explaining what they used to do and why it mattered.

Democratic congresspeople should be there, but just to be empathetic and ask questions. Then, propose a bill to fix the problems caused by DOGE, and talk about that.

You really would want to emphasize how many of the people had glowing reviews, were extremely competent, were probationary because they were recently promoted etc.
