All alcoholic beverages smell the same to me, a smell that induces nausea. Happily #KDrama #BrewingLove smelled VERY different from most recent #KDrama #romcoms and did not make me sick . The OTP grew on me in time, but the highlight remained the STP, with some very interesting and unusual relationship issues and dynamics. Lots of rom, overall handled very well, bits of com, and instead of a serial killer, a consideration of the trauma of killing. 8.5/10
@ronsboy67 Hi, embryo kdrama fan here. I was able to find the meaning of OTP “one true pairing” but STP eludes me. What does STP stand for?
@girlbandgeek Sorry, I should have clarified "Second" - now often 2TP, but I learned it as STP 12 years ago and I'm too old to change now 😀
@ronsboy67 So is the STP like a romance between the side characters? Like I'm thinking of the romance between Hye-Jin's assistant Pyo Mi-Seon and the Cop in Hometown Cha Cha Cha?

@girlbandgeek I would say second rather than side - major secondary roles not just side characters.

I dropped Hometown, so don't know the couple you mention, but in the Drama I just finished there was the excellent STP that I mentioned AND a romance between a side pairing. The latter got minimal screen time and In the cast list at mydramalist they are listed as supporting roiles.

The STP in contrast was given a lot screentime, and the two characters are both listed as "Main Role" at MDL

@ronsboy67 Thanks so much, I think I got it. I was also thinking of the case where one lead character has 2 love interests. But maybe that has its own acronym 🙂
@girlbandgeek Ah, that's a ltype of love triangle - EXTREMELY rare in #KDrama - almost as rare a hot day in the Sahara.
@ronsboy67 I mean, I was just thinking of the (fairly common?) scenario where there’s a OTP, but there’s also another contender, and the writers make us nervous that the ex-girlfriend or whatever will steal the heart of our lead. More of a plot device type thing. Anyway, thanks for your patience. Every new drama I watch feels like the best show I’ve ever seen 😂 There are seriously some good ones!
@girlbandgeek Ah, the infamous SLS - second lead syndrome! I keep a personal database of my Drama viewing, and will shortly post a list of Dramas with strong STPs. If you like Dramas that tease SLS, you could look for #KDrama "A Poem a Day", a good example of the genre.
@ronsboy67 Ha ha, I’m going to need a spreadsheet just to track the acronyms. But I would be happy to hear your recs. I just jumped in last summer during a Covid bout and now I’m hooked. I watched some ‘at random’ -all good. Now I’m going off some lists of ‘classics’. Currently on Reply 1988 which I love. I like nostalgic romances focusing on everyday Koreans. Only have time for a couple episodes each week, so they last a long time.

@girlbandgeek Here are few of my favourite "Strong STP" #KDrama recs.

and here's a full list of all the East Asian Dramas I've watched, in case you're looking for ideas. Personal taste is VERY subjective ofc, but if you find one or two here that interest and/or appeal, that would be lovely.
