It's hitting me really hard that the US could be another Hungary, if not Russia, for the rest of my life.

Being "late-career" I've got less to lose than many, when it comes to facing the consequences of nonviolent resistance, and that is the way.

But I reckon Vietnam-era protest, that I was just barely old enough to join, will pale compared to what's coming.

The American revolutionaries, Gandhi, MLK, Walesa, Mandela, Havel, Sakharov, Yousafzai, Navalny: all in my thoughts tonight.

@judell hopefully booting tesla stock prices might turn out to be a start. Trump is long bankrupt, Musk will suffer a lot if he's no longer the richest man in the world. And certainly tesla Is hugely overpriced and continuously failing to reach self-set targets.

But I think that the problem remains that the GOP needs to find its democratic soul that does not live from nazism. Democrats have to act up to their expectations. A grassroots political movement needs to find representation.

@mapto Need these to circulate widely, for sure.
@judell I remain optimistic that, despite it being the preferred medium of misinformation and the existence proof of Brandolini’s Law, the Internet will provide the upcoming generation of resistance the tools and connections necessary to slow and stop America’s descent into fascism and oppression.

@judell

I thought that I was relatively safe from this insanity in Australia, but our opposition coalition is polling to win the election in a matter of weeks.

Their leader seems to think Trump is a reasonable chap and that we should follow his lead on government spending, bureaucracy and identity politics.

The Endarkenment is upon us.

@judell
I feel for you and all your American fellows. You can always move to Mexico but not Canada or Greenland's which are soon to be invaded 🙂
Where is this world going ...
