As a Canadian I've watched the CBC my whole life & always defended it against those that wanted it uncoupled from our tax dollars to fend for itself in an ever-shrinking marketplace but no longer. Today the #CBC hurt our country.
With America reelecting their criminal buffoon fascist President, Canada had our work cut out for us even before Trump started his annexation threats. What we surely didn't need was the news platform WE PAY FOR with OUR TAX DOLLARS doing this morally void tyrant's advance work for him /2
It was breathtakingly reckless framing by hosts Ian Hanomansing, Bordie Fenlon and their teams and overseers asking Canadians & Americans alike to imagine we've already been conquered. After which CPAC framed our annexation like a simple business deal as opposed to something many Canadians would die fighting, myself most certainly included. /3
To frame it so disastrously THEN platform #KevinOLeary, the man for whom the word #Quisling was invented, who raced to #FoxNews to endorse it when Trump first made the threat then to #MaraLago to bend the knee in person, was unforgivably bad judgement & a betrayal. /4 #Annexation #CBC #cdnpoli
I didn't tune in & I'll never again tune in to the #CBC (let alone support, let alone defend) so long as it remains a tool, thoughtless & unwitting at best, of Trump's existential threat to our country. #IanHanomansing 's is a face I'll never trust again /5

@chris Yes I understand the Kevin O'Leary portion was quite a hit in the US
@Bentley he was gross. But thankfully he was 5 minutes of a 2 hour program. He was the crazy uncle. It was a good show and I believe it helped Canada.
@chris Did he really start his questions with "how would Canada as the 51st state effect you?" Are you familiar with the Overton window, Chris?

Lindsay Brown@chris @Bentley Don't assume that people criticizing Cross Country Checkup didn't watch the show. I watched the thing in its entirety and it was a destructive mess. From the horrifying bias displayed in the choice of invited guests to the US host openly begging for more calls in favour of a 51st state to Hanomansing's inability to counter any of O'Leary's spew of disinformation with facts, the whole affair was worse than predicted which is saying something. Absolutely normalized illegal threats.
