There was definitely no mine anywhere in the area Errol claims. The gems came from Copperbelt mines (quite possibly stolen) and he either smuggled them out himself or had them illegally delivered to Johannesburg, where he had a gem dealership, where the stones were cut and polished.
He was allowed to deal in gems - that's not the issue. The problem was all the taxes and duties on these imports he wasn't paying.
It gets even more fun. He laundered those profits through an "Israeli broker" and sent both the money and suitcases of gems to dear Elon, the other kids, and ex-wife Maye in Canada and the US.
The stories about how Maye and Errol had this horribly acrimonious divorce are also bollocks. I'm prepared to believe he was abusive - the whole lot of them are nasty arseholes - but Maye playing destitute victim is a load of cobblers.
She used to pick up the kids from school in her latest-model blue German luxury sedan (when Errol wasn't greeting them in the Rolls).

@kimlockhartga The biggest laugh recently was that Errol was outed for lying about his time on the city council. He's long claimed he represented the Progressive Party, which was as far left as you could go in white politics. Turns out he was an independent in a leafy suburb where the biggest concern was possibly stepping in some dogshit on your morning jog.

@kimlockhartga Good news - if you can call it that considering the AIDS, etc, implications of other decisions - is that Trump's offer to give racist farmers refugee status is finally imploding their movement. It was basically a front for agitators, run by Pretoria millionaires, and most of the farmers themselves are livid. (They're deffo racists, but they know they're much better off here.)
