The man in front of tanks is iconic, but did it really change anything in China? Did the CCP give way, or just (slightly) change tactics?

+35 years Is more than a generation. Sure, many more Chinese people are out of poverty – affluent, even – but I'd wager that, in that time, western democracies have become more like China than China has liberalized.
