I must say, I have become a fan of USB-C. I've previously criticised it, because I believe the connector needs to be bigger, for mechanical strength - and to enable high power devices (USB-C is great for low-power, but many people abuse it for e.g. 20V at 200W or higher).

But my Libreboot T480 has *only* a USB-C wire plugged into it, to a hub. That hub has my T480 charger, two monitors, a USB DAC, charges my phone (old micro usb), a USB-C nvme adapter... it even has ethernet, which I don't use.

@libreleah DS9 multiscreen?
@libreleah you win so hard

@book are you referring to the video in the 2nd photo? it's actually Babylon 5

star trek is some wishy washy liberal utopian crap. b5 is the the real shit.

edit: and to clarify, my assumption is you saw the video and thought i was watching ds9 (star trek deep space nine). which is not without merit, assumption-wise, since both shows used a lot of the same actors. i can't even stomach star trek these days, i just cringe

except TOS. i do like watching kirk beat the shit out of aliens sometimes

@libreleah and I can charge my t480 off a phone charger when traveling! This is a huge convenience most don't realize.
@naturepoker @libreleah I've always been afraid of using a phone charger in case something got fried... is your phone charger USB-C PD enabled? Or is it just a regular 5V charger?
@jjgcc @naturepoker input-only. it's micro usb, not usb-c. i intentionally avoided usb-c when purchasing it, because of my criticisms of usb-c.
@libreleah are t480 and t490 the same pc? To install libreboot I mean
@a40yostudent no, the t490 uses MEv12 which has not been cracked yet; MEv11 has a bug permitting unsigned code execution, which was how the bootguard got disabled for libreboot purposes. EDIT: and to clarify, t480 has MEv11 - so bootguard has been disabled, but this has not yet been done on the T490.
@libreleah inspired by your relevant work, I’ve just bought a tearingapartbutworking t480 and a raspberry pi pico and all. I think I’ll fry it, but also learn a lot.
@libreleah external flashing of libreboot on my t480s worked flawlessly. Your work is impressive.
