We must assume that Europe is becoming the world's last democratic major hub. Imperfect, perhaps, but democratic.

As such, Europe is the prime target of the new American administration.

Everything this administration will do will be aimed at harming us.

Washington's primary objective is now to hamper Europe's ability to exert a counter-power, even if it means joining forces with the worst tyrants.

We still have allies in the United States, but not within the administration.

@N_Henin
The EU is not democratic at all. And even less if it gives itself the powers to cancel elections.
@windy @N_Henin not democratic at all? Lol. Sounds like you should head back to Shitter. This is not like your echo chamber here.
@Blahster @N_Henin Yes it does "sound" like that. But is isn''t that. If you don't agree with me, I'm sure you can do better than that in telling me why.

@windy @N_Henin at first you could start with a real argument and sources, before people might start to give you real answers.

Until then, don't expect anything else.

@Blahster @N_Henin OK. The institutions aren't the institutions of a democracy and don't function as such. Other example: the unelected president of the Commission, after being thrown out of Germany's Gov. for governing privately and undemocratically through private SMS, negociated 35 billion euros with Pfizer also through private sms on her private phone, deleted all sms and refuses now to show the contracts negociated and evicts a lobbyist who sues her. In EU, that's business as usual.

@windy @N_Henin and such an example is proof, that the whole government isn't democratic? Lol, you're funny. Please tell me you're a comedian.

While there are deficits in almost every democracy, every institution is controlled. The fact alone that you have this information is proof that this statement is correct.

Now tell me again that there are good and bad people everywhere and one doesn't define a whole group.

@Blahster @N_Henin You talk about a EU "government"? What do you mean by that?

@windy @N_Henin Have you ever heard of the EU-parliament?
I talked about your example of Germany, btw.

But don't change the subject. Back to the original question, you still didn't answer.

@Blahster
The EU-Parliament is not a real democratic parliament. For instance, it does not have a checks&balances function, it does not have legislative powers in a democratic sense.
The EU is a treaty, not a democracy, same as the UN.
@N_Henin

@windy @N_Henin and that is your take on "the EU is not democratic"?

In what world are you living? Every parliament in the EU is democratically elected and checked by another institution. The EU parliament itself is also democratically elected and defines regulations beyond the borders of the independent countries and also controlled by other institutions.

Again, tell me how this is not democratic.

@Blahster @N_Henin Describe the functions of the pariament in your country and compare them with the EU parliament. You'll find the answer. You are asking of me pages and pages of argumentation that I'm not willing to spend time writing out here in 500char bits. You have my opinion I have yours, we are that much richer now. Thanks for this conversation.
@windy @N_Henin none of that has to do with your starting point. You wrote that the EU isn't democratic and none of what you said after that had anything to do with that, and additionally, you didn't bring one argument for this claim.
