Been reading about this "constitutional crisis" if a US president decides to ignore the courts. My understanding at this point is that while the president themself might be above court orders (only Congress can impeach), everyone *below* them can be compelled to comply with a court order. Thoughts?
@headius from my experience living in an oligarchy: judges and cops can be bought, intimidated, coerced, or have political motivations. you are likely to see all of that, at much higher rates than anticipated
@headius I think it becomes harder since the president can pardon people. Would a blanket pardon for ignoring court orders be valid? Who knows?
@headius When it really comes down to brass tacks, it's in the hands of the military. In theory they have sworn an oath to uphold the constitution, but on the other hand the President is their commander in chief. It's a very dicey situation.
