It was never about βfree speech.β
@georgetakei "I can't believe I'm writing this from the United States of America." And that's why he is. This exceptionalism, the rose-tinted glasses, pretending that it couldn't happen here is what kept the majority of the population from being able to effectively safeguard against it happening here. We can't pretend we're better than "this" or it all but guarantees we won't be. It can happen here, it is happening here, and the sooner the majority gets on board, the sooner we can mount an effective counter.
(I say "majority", but take heart: studies show that only a sustained 15% of a population is needed for an effective revolution.)
