Apparently some tech bros are having to learn the hard way that the creator of #Linux is a leftist
@kendricklmao8 Why everything have to become political?
@zappyhelix @kendricklmao8 because everything is political. Always has been.

@wurzelmann @kendricklmao8 Bingooooo.👌✨

Being ABLE to "stay away from politics" is a luxury afforded only to those most insulated from prejudice in society, i.e. the most privileged (whether or not they know it đź‘€).

I'm sorry if your question came from a place of genuine curiosity, @zappyhelix, but the reality that most people on Earth live within is one where political will has an *overwhelming* impact on their lives.

Looking away from that impact doesn't make it disappear.🫤

@wurzelmann @zappyhelix @kendricklmao8
Or because social networks have left no space for moderate centrist views and pluralism and one needs to hate, offend and gather mobs to harass an dox people to get any views and reposts.

@tyx @zappyhelix @kendricklmao8

no, everything is by definition political. It is a privilege to ignore this and also a sign of ignorance, but politics are everywhere.

@wurzelmann @zappyhelix @kendricklmao8
>everything is by definition political
Only in a sense that politics affects everything not the other way round.
Even in my moderately short lifespan which captured three nation-wide catastrophic political events (catastrophic as in "full-scale war" and "country breakdown") I'd say most of the time way more things were considered non-political or were allowed to left on "agree to disagree" terms. And about "priveleges" I can just laugh as I've seen some real shit most of the people of my age in EU haven't (Ok, except the Balkans and Ex-COMECON members).
@tyx @wurzelmann @zappyhelix @kendricklmao8 is moderate centrism not a political position?
@amymagdalena @wurzelmann @zappyhelix @kendricklmao8
It is indeed. But it also implies not having strong opinion on many topics on which radicals have. And I believe the question which we started with "Why everything have to become political" is not about what is literally political and what is not, everything is in some way, but about having strong opinions and interpreting every freaking word and gesture (except _that_ salute, it surely was) as political and demanding others (minding their own business useful for the society) to stick to The One Rulebook of Allowed Views.
@tyx @wurzelmann @zappyhelix @kendricklmao8 torvalds in that post only made one even vaguely controversial statement to anyone who isn't a MAGAhat, and disagreement on that point doesn't make one a malicious actor. The other points do make one malicious though. So, maybe you want to say which one you disagree with than leaving a cowardly level of plausible deniability.

@amymagdalena @wurzelmann @zappyhelix @kendricklmao8
>The other points do make one malicious though.
Radicals are so radical.
I am a left-leaning centrist and agree with most of the things Linus said. Though I am a) totally sure that any attempt to discuss any details on implementation of the mentioned topics will attract a ton of fanatics (in fact that "carefully licensed" already makes a person 'worse than Hitler!!!!11' bc "should be banned totally"), b) highly annoyed by the general environment where one is constantly confronted by the persons like you while having in general the views in line with the secular-humanistic-democratic principles.

Also fuck you. You're banned.

@tyx @amymagdalena @wurzelmann @kendricklmao8 My original point wasn’t high level. Yes, everything is political in some way. However, not every sentence should be taken as a political statement. If I say ”I like Linux” it means ”I like Linux”. To me it doesn’t mean anything else. If I say ”I like apples” doesn’t mean I hate oranges. Yet, some people take it that way when discussing especially online.
@zappyhelix @tyx @wurzelmann @kendricklmao8 come on, don't be shy, what's not in the rulebook of allowed views?

@amymagdalena @zappyhelix @[email protected] @kendricklmao8

I blocked this clown, but thanks for stepping in. đź’ś

@wurzelmann @zappyhelix @kendricklmao8 they blocked me but my client did save the last post which was amusing cause still no answer to the question, coward. BTW, I am a Marxist, they're right that I'm "radical" but I really didn't think bodily autonomy was a radical opinion.

@amymagdalena @zappyhelix @kendricklmao8

yeah, I read that too, found it somewhat amusing, because they've been dodging your questions all along. Oh well, good riddance. 🤷
