@thisismissem @reiver It’s a cool quote (and I’m flattered!), but yeah. The bigger picture is that projects live or die on all kinds of contributions, software development probably being one of the biggest.
But, that free labor provided often sees little compensation, assistance, or gratitude, and can lead to a fraught relationship where there’s not enough people making not enough money stuck doing too much work, without any kind of off-ramp. This is also true for instance admins, content creators, moderators, etc.
