I tend to find Owen Jones a bit hit and miss as a commentator, but this paragraph (taken from https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/feb/05/labour-left-keir-starmer-power-right-britain ) is absolutely spot on in my view.
What the Labour left should learn from new revelations about Starmer’s path to power

If Starmer is the hapless patsy of the Labour right, progressives must organise before Reform triumphs, says Guardian columnist Owen Jones

Wasn't a fan of Jeremy Corbyn, our Owen and was never shy telling us all in 2019.
Now look at him!
Btw, I've appreciated his voice in these dark days on international politics but like many in the Grundian, they savaged the very leadership whose policies we would hope for and suddenly they now largely crave. If redistribution is your thing, that is.

@MyKomment True. But we don't have the luxury of being able to hold grudges. I welcome it when people and organisations rethink their positions for the better. I haven't always held my current political views either. We live and learn! But let's not make it difficult for people to admit that that's what they've done.
@paulakirby
Well it won't be Corbyn next time so that's solved that at least. I agree, you're right and nice to see a reshifting back in many opinions.
I'm not asking for folk to say they are wrong but they dont/wont, so the nearer we get to the fire though, lets see how steadfast they remain. More concerning is the 'apparent', certainly PR weakness of opposition leadership.
Starmer is likely to enjoy the Kamsla Harris affect ie a low turnout, imo only 🌞
@paulakirby
Thanks for an answer btw.
Understandably, not many do.
