Now I really feel unsafe to fly. Seriously. I was debating a flight to a conference next month. This made my decision for me. I am canceling. Sorry United. You'd better protest. Stop them. Stop them NOW!

JFC!

Who are the "DOGE team"? What are they plugging in? Where did the upgrade come from? What testing has been done? What is the upgrade supposed to do?

Based on what little we know, IMO, it's likely cloning data and sending it to Musk. It won't *help* anything, only open American aviation to hacking.

@TCatInReality @jeffjarvis My first expectation? Blocking all public flight data so the private jet trackers no longer are a bother for the techbros. 😒
@zombie042 @TCatInReality @jeffjarvis
That is EXACTLY what this is all about. Now they can 100% block those flight-tracking accounts on all platforms, and not just twitter.
@exthemius @zombie042 @TCatInReality @jeffjarvis Unless a pilot turns off their transponder, it can't be blocked. The ADS-B signals (which are used for those tracker apps) from the transponders are easily received by any hobbyist with inexpensive equipment.
@conor @zombie042 @TCatInReality @jeffjarvis Ah, I see — learn something new everyday! Thanks Conor for the clarification.

@exthemius Technically they *could* prevent social media accounts posting, but the info is available to anyone who wants it, so it would be a game of whack-a-mole I reckon.

(Side note: receiving ADS-B signals is a really fun weekend project if you're nerd-inclined! 🤓)
