When photographing this kind of events, you always need to look for action, for what the masquerades are doing, trying to find different perspectives and in this case, to not be afraid to get on the floor to catch a different angle.

Fantastic series! The tradition reminds me strongly of the south-Hungarian “Busójárás” which also happens at this time. Fascinating how those two unconnected places, 2000 kms from each other, fruited in such a visually similar way 😍

Thank you. Indeed there some similarities. I was lucky to be in Bulgaria two weeks ago to photograph Surva in Pernik and it was really amazing to see the many, many masquerades there. Did enjoyed Bulgaria and his people, and culture.
