It's FanChat Friday! This week's prompt is: What do you think about time travel fics? What makes them work for you? Can you recommend a good fic which messes with the timeline?

@FandomChats - I enjoy time travel fics (bonus if it's a time loop, yum yum yum). I enjoy having characters trying to fix situations, and the necessary humor in these fics. I'm not a fan of characters keeping easy secrets, but time travel situations make it more palatable for me.

@FandomChats I often love this trope! For any narrative with a complex and/or tragic and/or mysterious backstory especially, it can be a great way to explore themes of narrative inevitability, of what makes a person who they are, of the choices that a person is able to conceptualise as options, and more. Or to be very funny and full of dramatic irony!

I do find that some fandoms lend themselves more to time travel than others. When I was in star wars fandom for example, I read SO many time travel fics and was always ravenous for more, but in my current fandoms it's just not as big a part of what I'm looking for

@FandomChats hmm. depends on the context and fic, really? some settings feel like they're more suited for a premise based on time traveling than others. while it's not something i actively seek out, i do enjoy a good time travel fic if it's well-written - but i don't usually care for fix-it time travels, usually i like stuff that's... a lot darker or tragic, in the vein of something like the higurashi series (though i REFUSE to incorporate sotsugou into my headcanon)

i don't really read it, so i don't have any recommendations to offer. my apologies ;w;
