@fulelo on and of itself a violation of privacy, and against organizational policy. But read-only access seems unlikely given their proclaimed objectives and claimed accomplishments

@jadp @fulelo According to Wired, the reports of read-only access were not true, they have admin access:

"Despite reporting that suggests that Musk's so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) task force has access to these Treasury systems on a “read-only” level, sources say Elez, who has visited a Kansas City office housing BFS systems, has many administrator-level privileges."

A 25-Year-Old With Elon Musk Ties Has Direct Access to the Federal Payment System

The Bureau of the Fiscal Service is a sleepy part of the Treasury Department. It’s also where, sources say, a 25-year-old engineer tied to Elon Musk has admin privileges over the code that controls Social Security payments, tax returns, and more.

@adamwulf thanks!

The claim was entirely untrustworthy but good to see evidence.

@adamwulf @jadp @fulelo Wow. Obviously they had more than read-only privileges.

According to Treasury's letter, "Currently, Treasury staff members working with Tom Krause, a Treasury employee, will have read-only access to the coded data of the Fiscal Service’s payment systems..." Are Musk and his gang "Treasury staff members"?
"Currently" Could they have already made alterations in the system that would allow them to bypass any future change in privileges?

@adamwulf @jadp @fulelo Also, it doesn't make it better so let's dispense with this "how the deck chairs on the Titanic are *actually* organized" bullshit, mkay?
