This afternoon: love me a weekend matinee show. Drummer and all around awesome person Allison Miller doing her River in Our Veins show with a monster band, tap dancers, video... Second time seeing it, still quite powerful and plenty fun. Jenny Scheinman, Ben Goldberg, Carmen Staaf, Rashaan Carter and Jason Palmer.
Tonight: and ending the weekend with perhaps the best thing in jazz going right now. On one hand Vijay Iyer, Linda May Han Oh and Tyshawn Sorey are just another piano trio. On the other hand: 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯.
Words can't do justice to what these three do. Next level. Early set at the Village Vanguard, from my favorite seat in the back of the room, with excellent company this evening.
