sleepy62🍁🛠️ 🖥️ 🔬 🌞Just finish The Book of Negros by Lawrence Hill. A fictional story set around real historical events and the actual "Book of Negros" which I didn't know was a real thing.
The story traces the life of a young girl stolen from Africa and sold into slavery in the US. The author manages to put us right inside the head of this person undergoing unimaginable cruelty and hardship and how she pushes through. The treatment of key events of the late 18th century in US, Canada and UK is absolutely fascinating.
I can't imagine how much research must have gone into this book.
