If you are actively hiring for positions in a company that is friendly to transgender people, in a country that is safe for transgender people, and you are willing to sponsor visas for people seeking to emigrate for these positions, I would like to hear from you. https://werd.io/2025/seeking-trans-friendly-employers-who-sponsor-visas
Seeking trans-friendly employers who sponsor visas

Nobody should have to move to another country to be themselves. However, I’ve spoken to multiple people who feel they need to move away from the

@ben for what it's worth, nearly every Dutch IT posting will sponsor. Other technical roles are quite likely as well under the kennismigrant (knowledge migrants) visa. Ind.nl has help in English on what qualifies.

While the Netherlands has its own problems and plenty of RW jerks like everywhere, the laws have been progressive around sex and gender since about 1811, give or take.

I live in the Netherlands and can confirm. Also my company will sponsor visas, but not moving costs. We also have several trans/non-binary employees. Company culture is good.

@mrs_skelli i think moving costs is a hard sell here. I had some help on that front, but many companies consider the 30% rule as the way the move is compensated.

As I tell people who are considering moving abroad, "We have Ikea here in the NL. Get rid of anything you can't carry." That was even before some might consider moving an emergency.

@ben

@ben This is a fast moving and contentious topic, but as far as I can tell it makes more sense for US-based trans folks to move to a different state. It’s still very hard but 100x easier than emigration with similar benefits.

EDIT: @trans_rescue say trans folks should prepare to leave the US.

@neilk @ben Please don't advocate that. Trans folks in the USA need to be getting a passport and getting out. Moving to a blue state just means being trapped when your passport is recalled.
@trans_rescue @neilk @ben Moving out of the US isn't an *option* for everyone. Moving states isn't an option for everyone. Moving states is an option for some people who living the country isn't.
@ben great idea but heads up: an oligarch has “bought” Australia’s version of the republicans and told them to go full trump. We’re going to the polls later this year. Anyone who doesn’t conform should, IMO, either travel to Oz BEFORE or wait until the outcome is clear. I wouldn’t recommend being on the ground in case Dutton wins. Vile man, worse policies.
@ben @ferrata we're in Japan, with all the up- and downsides of that, but we are looking for embedded (Linux and bare metal) and web services people. Visa sponsorship is possible, but you need to be eligible from the government's PoV (degree or ten years experience).
@ben Germany is only good until February.
From then on we will try to be more Nazi again.
@ben First they came for Transgender and I said nothing...
@ben great for trans folks who make shit tons of money. Most of us are not so privileged.
@ben yes, writing also from Canada, you can find online the IRB's Guideline 9
