Trying to escape the big tech cloud? Don't know what to do with your data anymore?

The PeARS search engine is currently funded by the Next Generation Internet programme, in the frame of a cooperation with the private cloud provider On My Disk. The last months, we have been hard at work to finish our second project milestone: decentralised search of private files and privately hosted websites, with a fine-grained permissioning system. It kinda (roughly) looks like this.

On My Disk has built a system which allows you to access your private files hosted on any physical device you own, wherever it is located. They have now added hosting capabilities to this setup, meaning that you can serve a jekyll website from a private device by simply installing their client.

By also installing PeARS, you can remotely index and search your private files, the shared files of your friends, and any public website on the network. Hosting and search are decentralised.

In phase 3 of the project, we will be testing and packaging everything. But in the meantime, a little sneak peak is available from the README on the PeARS repository: https://github.com/PeARSearch/PeARS-OMD/
