Many people in our community's Facebook group are extremely disenchanted with Zuckerberg's decision to remove all constraints on misinformation mongers.

I'd like to see WordPress.org -- or someone who wants to make some money -- create a plugin that replicated the functionality of a private Facebook group.

Include the FB UX as one option, but make it more flexible if desired.

@dangillmor there are quite a lot of options out there if you want to run your own (eg. https://www.drupal.org/project/social). the problem with that though is very few will use it without some significant coercion. "i don't want another account" is the most common reason

@mensrea @dangillmor Yeah, I help run a webforum, we'd be happy to take in more groups who align with what we do (which is broad) and who want space within our forum structure and deal with their technical overheads, but using a webforum rather than a Facebook style interface and having another account to log into always seems too much of a jump for people.
