May I suggest mojeek.com as a privacy respecting alternative that actually has its own web crawlers and indexers.

Mojeek is a web search engine that provides unbiased, fast, and relevant search results combined with a no tracking privacy policy.

While I love the idea of Mojeek, the execution leaves a lot to be desired.

do you have any examples? they’re always useful for us when it comes to targetting improvements etc.
