Can anyone explain clearly what's happening when clouds keep forming in one place even though the droplets are moving?

I think this is probably the best timelapse film I've ever made.
The convection in the Cumulus congestus at the start is particularly pleasing to me, but the rain lit by sunset light is also wonderful, and I like the clouds condensing and evaporating in the afterglow, once the sun has gone down.

I think my favourite bit is about 35 seconds in, where you can see the rays of sunlight breaking through clouds, selectively illuminating rain.
Watch out for a sundog near the end, as well!
