Why is there no open source hardware/software solution to the Sonos problem yet?

There may actually be a solution for this

@spacerog I was running a bunch of raspis running a daemon that plays airplay.

I'm using Emby's "play to" feature to send music to LibreElec devices I've set up on my network. (Jellyfin forked from Emby when Emby went closed source.)

I do realize that this isn't quiiiite the Sonos experience. Currently you can get there by taping open source products together, but the more you tape the more fragile it becomes. Generally nobody wants to maintain a taped together mess for other people.

@spacerog Lyrion Music Server (formerly Logitech Media Server) is a great solution. Open Source software, diverse and robust DIY hardware options including open source hardware, Raspberry PI, etc. https://lyrion.org/
