I'm currently reading Coming Out of the Magnolia Closet by John F Marszalek III. it is giving me such deep nostalgia and complicated feelings. It is a series of essays informed by interviews with same-sex couples all in Mississippi. My childhood was spent between Mississippi and Louisiana and I went to college in Starkville, where the author taught and lives.

I have such respect and admiration for so many of these couples but also find many of their perspectives hard to reconcile with my own.

Honestly, I feel like most of this book is an excuse for the author to be invited to dozens of couples beautiful homes and kiki about the community and local gossip. Joking obviously, but all of these conversations sound like they were so fun.
@V171 what aspects of their perspectives did you find difficult to reconcile?
