My current pov: he sells an extremely powerful promise. A regressive masculinist techno-driven manifest destiny for a white Christian supremacy. With rockets, cars and robots as evidence. The idea that we haven't tried capitalism hard enough. Nobody comes with a more powerful and wide-reaching promise. Like a form of civilisational procrastination, driven by collectively repressed anxiety.
