Ugh, I hate how sloppy the whole internet has become. I searched for a “berries good for diabetics?” page. The first three “comments” below the article were:
1) An “herbologist” who CURED DIABETES
2) A shill for a bitcoin wallet
3) An ad for a “free gift cards” scam
😞
@cooner sometimes I really miss 2005
@cooner According to our nutritionist raspberries and strawberries are good. Apples and pears too.
@sofawolfone Thank you! I was just searching for some specific details. :) Also love a few blueberries. And an occasional cutie orange, for they are smol. ;)

@cooner Sorry to barge in with info you already had. Been learning a lot about this topic over the past year, though I'm only pre-diabetic.

And yeah, Blueberries and Acai Berries are good too, I think.

@sofawolfone Oh no worries! Mutual support is always good! 🤝✨
@sofawolfone (I was researching this particular moment because I saw a youtube doctor recommend low-sugar greek yogurt with a handful of berries for breakfast and I was like “Oh hey, that sounds good”) ;)
@cooner It's almost stunning how enshittified Google can get and still have such a chokehold in the market. Their engineers were complaining a long time ago about the pressure to make search intentionally worse so people had to spend more time on the site wading through more ads and promoted links. This is by design, because people will still use it no matter how bad it gets.
@breve Yup, and unfortunately it infests the entire internet. I’ve had my default search set to DuckDuckGo for years now but the results inevitably are affected by all the slop.
@cooner I switched to using Kagi myself. The flood of slop pouring into the Internet is hard to fight but they do a decent job filtering out a good amount and I love being able to set hard filters on sites like X and Facebook. Still have to be wary with any search engine though!
@breve Oh yeah I’ve been thinking about looking into Kagi at some point too!
