Cook joins other top CEOs and companies in making a seven-figure pledge.

I have a whole essay brewing in the back of my head about how boring Apple has become because Tim Cook is so committed to playing it safe, and this move is emblematic of that.

I'm surprised at how many people are shocked to learn that Cook donated to Trump's inauguration fund.

Maybe I'm just overly cynical, but my first thought was, "Yeah, that tracks."

Edit: I don't mean this as ridicule of people who are taken aback. It was just one of those times when I realized how different my worldview is from others'.

@aleen I was really disappointed, but certainly not surprised.
@aleen I have found that my cynicism means I'm rarely surprised, but I dont know if I that is a good thing

@aleen I do wonder how Jobs would've reacted to some of the last decade's events.

He certainly wasn't the saint or perfect visionary lots of people wanted him to be.

@apontious I think a lot of what is broken in the industry can be attributed to the culture he had a strong hand in creating.

idk, he was an excellent businessman, but he also had a low tolerance for bullshit. It would have been interesting.

@aleen As @marcoarment has said on ATP, considering the amount of talent, resources and marketing power the company has, they 'just don't make enough stuff'.
