Today, I learned about "ringless voicemails." You know exactly what I'm talking about - those AI voicemails that appear in your inbox even though your phone never rang.

There's an entire industry set up to send these out automatically for pretty cheap.

I can not imagine these are in any way an effective form of marketing - especially since my voicemail inbox gets filled with them at least once a week.

No one who can do anything about it gives a shit.

As a consumer myself, this customer service thread about ringless voicemails - and how to stop them - at Verizon is... infuriating.

Holy shit - I assumed these companies were outside of the USA, as so many scam call operations tend to be.

"DropCowboy" - which allows you annoy as many people as you want for the low, low price of $0.004 each - is HQed in Sheridan, Wyoming according to their website.

I feel like this is a more solvable issue now... one way or another.

"Slybroadcast" - I mean, fuck, they aren't even hiding their corruption here - is apparently HQed in Faneuil Hall in Boston (probably a PO Box).

"We follow all local laws" is not absolution for being greedy, annoying dickheads eroding trust and negating the benefits of being connected.

Fuckin' money perverts, man...
