Last night in the Netherlands: Boy (14) dies, another boy (13) loses hand, dozens need eye surgery, more fine particles emitted than all road vehicles do in a year, €118 million blown up instead of put to use, millions of pets in fear, wildlife disturbed. Private fireworks: great tradition.

@rutgerdankers @Sustainable2050 I found the P2000 semafoon feed about a decade ago, just after I'd started learning Dutch, and watching it one NYE genuinely thought there /had/ been a terrorist attack as I'd never seen so many calls for all the emergency services (and I used to also listen on the scanner radio in the UK before our services went to digital encrypted networks)
