Last night in the Netherlands: Boy (14) dies, another boy (13) loses hand, dozens need eye surgery, more fine particles emitted than all road vehicles do in a year, €118 million blown up instead of put to use, millions of pets in fear, wildlife disturbed. Private fireworks: great tradition.

@Sustainable2050 People were letting them off in a front garden in my daughter's street here in Manchester.
I couldn't believe the power of the explosive charges being set off - potentially lethal.
Nearl got killed myself at a millennium party when a rocket came into the house we were at rather than going upwards. Nobody hurt but a very lucky escape.

@markhburton @Sustainable2050 a waste of money, air quality bad after, if adults want to use its fine, but a lot of the injured are children and teens, they should not be put at risk, seen awful eye injuries in teens 😢🤦🏽‍♀️luckily not working in ED anylonger
