Yesterday I did my Book Bracket 2024 and am delighted - what a reading year, with 100 finished books [!!!] and 21 that are not included, I read them until approx pages 50-100 - and then decided they are not worth my precious and finite time. 😜 Will continue like this, 100 books is totally doable for me I have to admit, and it is great fun. So, now ScienceBookClub, SavadgeReading25, and my virtual book circle Lesedings which we started in 2016 and it is still going on - love all of it!β£οΈπŸŽ‰

Here's my bracket - winner BY FAR is Das Wesen des Lebens [2023], EN: Beasts of the Sea, by Iida Turpeinen. What a book! It combines [description of and real] scientific research, general zoology, human and animal behavior, psychology, historical "fiction" ongoing over 3 [!] centuries - and everything else. Really like the German title which would translate to "The Innermost of Life", I suggest. In Finnish it's just Elolliset, one word, so that best captures the meaning Turpeinen intended.

Since my character count is quite limited on this server [I do like that, lots!] here come some more hashtags, for searchability and access purposes :)!

@rebekka_m So Iida Turpeinen wrote her book in Finnish? What are the numbers before the initials about? And why are your months out of order? Are they the months when you started or finished reading? Also, how do you accessing the books? Are you buying them or borrowing from a library or friends?
@levampyre numbers in the front indicate the no of books I finished that month. Months are in a random order to avoid recency bias - you do remember january books the least + dec books the best. Try to rule this out. - I'm doing EVERYTHING to get books, I buy or order them in my fav bookshop, I constantly lend from all local libraries + I also browse so called BΓΌcherschrΓ€nke, public book closets, that are freely accessible around the clock and allow to give or take as much books as you like. <3
