Illegally abducted political prisoner Abdullah Öcalan yesterday was finally allowed to meet with representatives of the only major anti-racist parliamentary party in Turkey, the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) after dictator Erdoğan and Bahçeli closest ally as leader of the Fascist MHP agreed to take this step in a potential resolution to the "Kurdish question" of Turkey in the peaceful manner which PKK has been working for already for decades.

Considering how partisan your writing is on anything passing through either your İstanbul- or your Ankara-bureau, it would be better for everyone if you just abolished those. Most of all for your own reputation as an otherwise generally credible news agency, but also for the benefit of all the people in the Levant and Anatolia regions and vicinity.

Öcalan has been "ready to end insurgency" for decades.
It has been the counterparts that unilaterally broke ceasefire agreements, illegally abducted Öcalan, etc apparently to keep the conflict going as a claimed threat to point at to keep the people pacified through the regimes' many atrocities and oppression.
Ending the conflict peacefully in a manner that achieves peaceful coexistence in diversity is a core pillar of the entire ideology and goal of the PKK. It was created in response to and to protect the people against the genocidal atrocities by the State built on foundations of the explicitly genocidal Turk-supremacist Kemalism/Atatürkism, named after the "founder of Turkey" Kemal Atatürk and a continuation of the several genocides at the end of predecessor Ottoman Empire in which Atatürk participated.

It is not the job of a news agency to rewrite history for the nationalist personal political preferences of some staff members.

Why though?
Erdoğan and Bahçeli's wars of aggression are losing and they have not made any promises of anything beneficial in return for the unconditional surrender.
Also, PKK was formed in response to genocidal atrocities including State-backed terrorism, which have not ended but are increasing, while PKK has been following Geneva Conventions (=no terrorism) since the unilateral declaration 30 years ago in 1½ week.
If PKK is declared dissolved, then the regime will guaranteed take any opportunity, any act by anyone else, to decree it didn't dissolve and resume its persecution but from a huge gained advantage.

@livinghell Oh I understand what THEY want. AKP+MHP want victory over all opposition and unopposed eradication of all minority peoples, etc,
but I don't see any reason why Öcalan should issue an unconditional surrender.
Peace is the goal, in conditions of peaceful coexistence, etc, but not actually possible through that demand which would instead result in one-sided war against those groups of people.

@b9AcE Öcalan has been wanting to continue the struggle without arms for quite a while. I don't know if he wants it so much that he is willing to play their game, but I think they are betting on it.

@livinghell I believe AKP+MHP's goal with this... thing, even though it seems to me there may have not been a goal initially, is now to try to paint Öcalan into a corner where they can then declare "see, we offered peace but they didn't take it" even though obviously that would be an illegitimate claim at this point, which they would then be able to use to demand support for its further military aggression.
As a bonus they may be able to silence some human rights defenders and similar for the duration of this thing because those may think that they must shut up or risk breaking it, while it's seemingly intended to break anyway.

Of course if Erdoğan would precede the next meeting by unconditionally resigning and handing all power to a confederation of councils for peace, grassroots democracy, etc, or something... I'd take that. ;-D
