What’s a good RSS reader: one that uses a good browser for web access, doesn’t track me or ask for all my info, and isn’t otherwise enshittified? I don’t even need to use it for reading (yet?) per se but am putting RSS links on my website and want to see how it looks from a reader.

#RSSreader

@superball been using Feedly but it has been enshitiffied with AI stuff to the point you don't even have notifications.
@superball I like Drop Feeds, a Firefox extension
@superball If you're on iPhone iPad or Mac, I think Net News Wire is pretty great
@superball I'm using nextcloud and its RSS reader plugin but that is TOTAL overkill and I was perfectly happy with liferea

@superball I used to use this one and am a big fan.

The Old Reader
@superball Vivaldi browser has one built in
@superball to clarify that would only be the desktop browser. The mobile version does not have one currently.
@superball @ifixcoinops I use and endorse (FWIW) NewsBlur.
@superball Feedbro on Firefox has served me well for years.
@superball I switched to NetNewsWire this year and it's been great

@superball if you're the bulk kind of news consumer, try this out:

Nunti (Finally a smart RSS reader which doesn't suck ass or your data.)
https://f-droid.org/packages/com.nunti/

If you're old and pedantic as me and always make sure to diligently read your full news reel, check out Miniflux on the server side/web, Flux News for it on mobile, and Newsflash for it for Desktop Linux.

Nunti | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository

Finally a smart RSS reader which doesn't suck ass or your data.

@superball
Feeder for Android, available on F-Droid, very configurable.
@superball I've been liking the Firefox extension Drop Feeds

Since you asked…

I use News Explorer on macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS. You can enter #RSS feeds into it one at a time or import/export them en masse in OPML format. You can group them, filter them, etc. You can keep a local list/downloads, or have it sync across all your gizmos through iCloud, or do both. You can customize your reading experience. So far, I haven’t noticed a whiff of AI BS in the latest version. I’m pretty happy with it.

I hope that helps.

@superball If you have the time and knowledge, there are a number of self-hosted options out there. Best way to guarantee you're not being tracked, unless you decide to track yourself.
