Leo@pilif well... Story's not done yet. That the next US government will be good for anyone on the long run I believe to be unlikely. There is such a thing as winning yourself into a loss: They might get everything they believe they want, but what they'll get as a consequence is an isolated nation ridden by poverty and crime, ruled by a few oligarchs. A situation in which everyone loses, just as in ex-Soviet states.
Quite strange that it's come to this. I did have the feeling that the US is on the decline since 9/11 though. All in all, they lost the war. Two fallen towers caused them to lose their head, openly start wars of aggression, openly torture without regret or apology, alienate their Western allies and more. Sure, it was a tragedy. But it was nothing compared to real wars. As soon as they got attacked at home they turned from the friendly Capitalist next-door to the brutal wannabe world dominator. As Trump'd say: Sad!
This is just another chapter in that inevitable downfall.
