When people say 'run government like a business,' they mean cut services, raise prices, and pay the CEO 400 times more than the workers.
@godpod I've helped run both. I'm really impressed that a public body can end the year within 2% or so of many, many of its budget lines. I've never seen a private business achieve that.
@godpod ...and let's not forget hiring friends and family members at company expense.
@godpod Yep. They don’t understand that our government is a service Of, By and For the population.
@godpod The GOP wants gov't to run like a business. But I've never seen a business that operates purely by cutting services without making any profit (raising taxes on billionaires, infrastructure, etc.)

@godpod

yes. and, strangely, these "run it like a business" folk never want to increase revenue -- just cut staff and expenses and deliver less product.

what kind of business is this?

#usPolitics

@godpod Some have a 1 to 5000 ratio. Now that is funked!
@godpod Meanwhile, in Europe… French farmers drench the CEO with shit!
@godpod ...and many who vote for this kind of thing are basically screwing themselves anyway
@godpod
Don't know how many times I've told people that they don't want government to be run like a business. The C-suite sociopaths look at everything as a cost, and to them, you are a cost, not a citizen. And costs are meant to be cut.
@godpod a business sells a good or service to generate profits for the owners. That should raise a few questions m. One of the first is what “goods or services” are we selling? A few others are who the “owners” of these free citizens are and how much do they get?
@godpod Also, apply profits to buy favors from … government … wait, how is this supposed to work now.
@godpod
Or about 800 times what the CEO is actually worth...
@User47
@godpod - and running government like a business also means further privileging the already entitled. I can’t believe you forgot that, god. 😁
