It's a tricky one because it's a catch-all for Human parainfluenza viruses (HPIVs) for which there are 4 subtypes. Each subtype can cause varying degrees of illness from a "cold" to croup, to bronchiolitis, to pneumonia. But given COVID has caused wide spread immune vulnerabilities, all serotypes are now causing more severe illness.
