The last 2 weeks shamefully exemplify the hierarchy of human life:
•1 CEO killed—national news for weeks, new security hired, people charged with terrorism
•488 mass shootings in 2024—no major legislation to stop future shootings
•200K+ Palestinians killed—send even more bombs to Netanyahu

This is unsustainable. This is unacceptable. This is indefensible. This must change.

@QasimRashid How do we change it?

Peaceful protest is met with violence.

Violence, I assume, would be met with tanks.

One side is trying to undermine or even eliminate our elections, and the other won't take that seriously.

They're even trying to pass a bill to make it possible to arbitrarily declare nonprofits to be "terrorists" without due process or even proof and thus disband them, making large-scale organization nigh impossible.

As such, I fear survival will be hard, let alone change.

@pteryx @QasimRashid I will fight for what is good and right, and continue to advocate for it wherever possible.
@MisterMultiverse @QasimRashid ...You do realize that you basically responded to "How do we change it?" with "By changing it, duh! 😀 ", right?...
@pteryx @QasimRashid
Okay, happy to talk if you want to.
Advocacy matters. Peaceful protest even in the face of violence matters.
Personally I've started a nonprofit about it all, and largely felt in the end(ish) that it wasn't about this organization or that doing the best nonprofit work, it is about people and right and wrong being messy. And now I want to use technology to make things less messy, to have people be more directly held accountable. And if they won't be, then the rest know.
@pteryx @QasimRashid federation is sincerely significantly important, I think, in stopping fascism.
Being brave and kind and smart and other simple, stupid things need to be done earlier and louder and hand in hand with people that you trust.
If you've got suggestions I'm all ears as well.
@MisterMultiverse @QasimRashid Sadly, I've gotten as cynical as I have since the election precisely because I *don't* have suggestions beyond "make sure H.R. 9495 doesn't become law because then we can't organize in the first place".
