I've been going through photos from the last year's shoots, looking for ones to offer for sale as prints and I found so many whole shoots I did without ever editing any of the shots. This is a whole series of panoramas at White Pocket, in the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument. That place is soooo trippy!

By the way, if you're looking for wall art photography, I should have the print ordering up soon. I'll post here when it's online.

Another panorama, 9 images stitched together in Lightroom. This is also White Pocket, Arizona, in Vermillion Cliffs National Monument. Just unbelievably trippy.

From the same Utah/AZ weird geology road trip last year, the most famous of the Wahweap Creek hoodoos. This thing is about 30' tall. Very fun! Note all the smaller ones in the background. There are many more in the area.

@Mikal Beautiful! I haven't seen these hoodoos yet. I love visiting Utah.

Oh, it's totally worth a trip. You can get to these and the other Wahweap ones by hiking up the creek (quite a few miles) or driving down a dirt road and hiking a mile or two. For these, get up early if you want to take pictures, since they get shaded by the cliffs quickly, at least in the winter when the light is low. The red toadstools are right off the main highway north of Page. There are lots of other toadstool spots!

@Mikal Thanks for the tip! I would love to return soon. So much weird and wonderful geology to see there. I did manage to visit the cosmic ashtray my last time, and luckily saw the Wave around 15 years ago before it got extra challenging to get a permit.

@dorkette888

Oh, thanks for the Cosmic Ashtray tip. I'd seen pictures of that before, but didn't know the name. Definitely have to go! I got really pissed about the Wave, because of the permit system specifically designed to make you camp/stay in Kanab and spend money there (that's what a BLM ranger told me), so haven't bothered. Have you been to White Pocket? It's nearby and super weird. Also recommend Goblin Valley for totally silly geology. Spend a day and hike out to the far goblins.

@Mikal For the Cosmic Ashtray, I definitely needed gps. It was somehow very creepy. Highly recommended! I was solo, so didn't go down into the sand just in case of difficulties getting back out. I went via Spencer Flat road.

I haven't yet been to White Pocket or Goblin Valley, but I want to. Have you been to Bisti/De-Na-Zin wilderness? I spent maybe an hour there many years ago around sunset and really want to return.

@dorkette888

Yeah, I was there last fall, I think it was, after shooting out by Shiprock. I spent a whole day wandering around out there. Super cool. What's fun is the diversity in the variety of hoodoos and that they're mostly really small.

I went to Chaco Canyon after that.

@Mikal Haven't been to Chaco either. So many places left to visit and revisit! I also love cliff dwellings and am hoping to spend more time wandering around in Bears Ears the next time I'm in Utah.
